Kolkata: ECMO saves three kids with adenoviral infection

KOLKATA: Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation that was the saviour of many lives during Covid-19 outbreak – has saved three children in Kolkata, who had severe adenoviral infection.

Five-year-old Aryav Suman from New Alipore was the first child to recover from the viral infection and the child had been under paediatric ECMO support for 18 days at Medica Superspecialty Hospital followed by other intensive care. The boy returned home on March 2.
